Polo Trainer
Polo is a sport where players on horses carry bamboo mallets while striving to drive a ball into the other team’s goal. The teams play on either a 300 by 160 yard outdoor grass field or a 300 by 150 foot indoor dirt arena. After 4 to 6 periods, known as “chukkers”, the team with the highest score wins the game.
Polo is for any age group. Children can start playing beginner polo as young as five years old.
Players need to learn how to properly handle a mallet as well as walk and trot on the ponies to begin building skills. Riders need to have a horse, mallet, ball, helmet, and boots to begin the sport.
Trainers that specialize in polo should provide riders with a trained polo pony, a choice of mallet and large and soft balls for beginners.
